What is Collaborative Family Law?

Collaborative Family Law is a voluntary dispute resolution process in which parties settle the terms of their divorce without court intervention. To begin the process, the parties sign a Participation Agreement, committing them to resolve the entire matter out of court. The focus is solely on helping you and your spouse reach an agreement that is in alignment with your goals, and which addresses your needs and concerns. The Collaborative Law team approach provides the structure and guidance so negotiations can be safe and supportive. You make your own decisions about your future and the future of your family.

In the Collaborative Law process, the parties agree to voluntarily disclose all relevant and material information, and they agree to use good faith efforts in their negotiations to reach a mutually acceptable settlement. Each party has their own attorney and may also jointly engage mental health and financial professionals, or other experts as needed.

As a Collaborative Attorney, I help attain a fair settlement through a series of meetings between the two parties and their attorneys and any other professional team members. The primary focus of the meetings is to identify the priorities, goals, needs, and interests of the parties, and help them create a settlement consistent with their priorities, goals, needs, and interests.
